Today was my day for salad making, and seeing as my home kitchen's undergoing renos, I did a quicky but goody. I call it my orb salad, because the idea is to take a mess of arugula, a bunch of chopped fresh basil, and mix it with a whole whack of round things: heirloom mini tomatoes of various sizes and colours, red seedless grapes, blueberries, cocktail bocconcini (the smallest kind, same size as the tomatoes), and raisins. I made a dressing out of half a cup of extra virgin olive oil, half a cup of apple cider, two tablespoons of maple syrup, a teaspoon of mustard powder, a tablespoon of garlic powder, an inch of fresh ginger, a tablespoon of dried lavender, salt and pepper, and served the whole thing with huge Portuguese buns and butter.
